With Fourth of July Weekend just days away, law enforcement agencies throughout St. Louis County and Missouri are making it clear that there will be little tolerance for those who choose to use fireworks or drive drunk.

From sparklers and magic snakes to roman candles, mortars, and other projectile explosives, all fireworks are off limits in the county. Use and possession of these devices can result in fines that range from $50 to $1,000, depending on the circumstances at hand. Despite the strict laws and penalties in place in St. Louis County, fireworks are legal in many of the surrounding areas, including Jefferson, Franklin, and St. Charles Counties.
- DWI/DUI - In addition to warning the public of the dangers and illegality of fireworks, St. Louis law enforcement agencies are also advising the public not to drive while intoxicated. Fourth of July weekend – as well as the days preceding and following the holiday – accounts for high rates of DWI accidents and injuries. As local residents celebrate the birth of our nation, they are encouraged to drink responsibly and not get behind the wheel.
